Carl S. Saylor, 1937-2003, Marshall

Carl S. Saylor, 66, of Marshall, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2003, at Fitzgibbon Hospital in Marshall.

He was born July 23, 1937, in Blue Lick, a son of Otis Grant and Stella Jane Canida Saylor. On Aug. 9, 1990, in San Bernadino, Calif., he was married to Lela Ackerman, who survives of the home.

Mr. Saylor was a resident of California for 35 years, before he returned to Marshall. He was an Army veteran, serving in the airborne division in Fort Bragg, N.C. He also served in the Missouri and California National Guard.

Also surviving are three sons, Allen Saylor, of Monett, Shane Jones, of San Andreas, Calif., and Carl Jones, of San Bernardino, Calif.; three daughters, Veronica Logan, of Ozark, Cindy Saylor, of Monett, and Laura Gerlt, of White Sands, N.M.; four brothers, Lewis Cecil Saylor, of Sweet Springs, Lloyd K. Saylor, of Longview, Texas, Junior Saylor, Marshall, and Willard Saylor, of Sedalia; a sister, Lillie Wilhite, of Marshall Junction; and 16 grandchildren.

He was predeceased by seven brothers and three sisters.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, with Gary Grossenbacher officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sweeney-Reser-Wills Funeral Home in Marshall.
